South Korean Woman Fails Driving Test 771 Times

SEOUL, South Korea — A woman in South Korea who has taken the written exam required for a driver's license nearly every day since 2005 has failed again — but is hoping attempt No. 772 will be the charm.

The aspiring driver took her first test in April 2005, according to Choi Young-chul, an official at the North Jeolla Province driver's license agency in Jeonju, 150 miles south of Seoul.

She has taken the test a record 771 times, most recently on Monday, but has yet to pass. She said she plans to take the test again but did not say when, he said Thursday.

The 68-year-old has spent $3,000 on fees for the test, he said. Applicants must score at least 60 on the written exam before they can get behind the wheel for a driving test. Choi says she's scored as high as 50.

"I feel sorry every time I see Cha fail. When she passes, I'll make a memorial tablet myself and give it to her," Park Jung-seok, a traffic police officer at the agency, told the Korea Times newspaper.

No other details about her identity were released other than her family name, Cha.

So today is how can an elderly person test your nerves day. I was at the post office. I had to wait in line because as is tradition only people go to their post office at noon. That is is. I think the hours should be change from 11:30- 1:30, because when else do people really go. So as I was 15 people deep, a lady walks up to me and says, " I am not waiting in a line." Granted she was second from the front. Then she goes on to ask me, " Where can I cash a check?" What? I know most people use banks these days, but your at the post office. The post office is for mailing packages, or if your desperate asking the rates of 300 different packages to everywhere, U.S.A. So I in my infinite wisdom choose to respond by saying, "I tend to use the bank". Well I guess that would have helped most people, but she just looked at me funny, huffed, and said, "Where is a bank? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rule 2. Somehow figure out who has neglected to pay their fair portion of the bill.

Rule 3. Get a separate check or have check grouped into what everyone ordered separately.

I need someone to explain how you go to restaurants and the money put in is never enough to cover the bill or the tip. If you go out with a group of 6 or more people watch to see how accurate this scenario actually is.

Blogger land. I have been on a sabbatical from the peps of blogger. I have been busy. Raising a kid, going to work, hanging with Becky, going to college, watching the Brewers self-destruct and then make it into the playoffs, (Who Knew that would happen?) then to exit the playoffs as quickly as they entered. I have seen a former football icon in this state just act like a complete moron. So all in all it has been busy. I am cranking out a 3.5 GPA in school. I think all things considered that is an amazing achievement in itself. My bowling is not up to speed as of yet. I am embarrassed to say three weeks ago I shot a 465 series. Yes that was a three game total. I am dealing with some mechanical issues(yes, there is a science to bowling. Who knew?) that have not been fixed as of yet. With 64 shopping days till Christmas, this last part of the year should be a blast. Still to come my thoughts on baseball out east, and WOW, New York is GINORMOUS!!!!!!!.

Let's just say with the 105th Harley fest in town and all the kids going back to school, we needed some help working this weekend. So I worked 11-cl on tuesday and thursday, 4-cl wednesday and Friday. Saturday I worked from 8am -cl, and last night 11am-1am. If we do the math that is close to 40 hours the last three days. I have received my grades for my second set of classes. I received two A-'s. So far that makes it one A and 3 A-'s. Things are going well in school. I hope to keep my A streak going.

OK. This last week has been frustrating for me as a driver. I have had three instances where I felt like the Illinois road construction crew had been contracted by Wisconsin. Last Friday night I was on my way home when the ramp to get off was closed. Oh by the way I was warned about 300 feet from where the ramp is. No problem I'll go to the next ramp, or the next ramp, or maybe I will go all the way to the lakefront before I can turn around. NICE, REAL NICE. Then on Sunday we were going to church and were at least 1/2 hour ahead of schedule so we could finally get Mel in to the nursery, because I think the lady in the nursery thinks we are not going to put here in there, when we come to our exit from the freeway and, BOYAH, the ramp is closed. WOW!!!!!!! This is great. So now where are we going. I am being sent on a detour I have no idea where its going. Well we got to church 30 minutes late. Great!!!!! Can a brother get any love. Scenario three. Monday going home from work, taking the back roads home like normal, and in the middle of this street it says road closed. I quit. There has got to be a way for people to communicate to drivers that roads, ramps and construction is going on before they drive right into it. COMMUNICATION PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I have not updated lately. I mean with school, having a baby, moving, and work it seems I have had little time for anything else. My first two classes went well. I got an A in GEN 105 which I scored 997/1000 points, and an A- in my COM 140 class. I am just starting my second block. Hopefully I will continue my good grades.

Today my brother was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army. He is scheduled to do more training at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. Then he will move on to a base in Honolulu, Hawaii. Can anybody say ma halo to us going back there for a second time. I LOVE HAWAII!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last monday I bowled my highest series ever. Yes a 740 series. How did you guess? My first game was a 278. Then I had games go 226 and 236. I have been having a great year. This was my 3rd 700 of the season. I also had my high ame this year of 288. So far I have had 5 games of 277 or better.

Are you serious? What have we become? What is the deal with these 100 calorie snack packs. I mean is this really something that the American people are buying into? This is a joke. What they are trying to sell you is a joke. Oreo crisps. Brownie bites. Other crazy things. first of all let me just say that those are not the real thing. Not even by a long shot. why would I want to eat them. not only that they cost more than the real thing. I opened a pack of the brownies. five little bites that equaled 1/3 that of a regular brownie. On top of that it was all air. ALL AIR!!!!!! No sustenance. Now if you are trying to "diet" and "cut back " please run 30 extra miles so you can have the real stuff. This fake excuse for a diet plan does not make me want to get in shape that way. I say have the real oreos or brownies. Forget the air filled packs of not so tasty morsels that cost you a fortune. Stick to the real stuff. Like mom use to make.

Well for all those non-Packer fans the joy that they will not have to see #4 on the sideline makes for more enjoyable Sundays. As for me the last 17 years have been great. While there have been good days and bad ones. 4-12 seasons, and Superbowl heroics. There may not be a better QB ever to play the game. Mr. Favre never wanted the spotlight or looked for it. Even at his retirement conference he came under dresed and gruffly looking. "This is how I live my life everyday. I thought about wearing a suit, I thought about shaving, but this is who I am and will always be. I am just like everybody else. The only difference is I got to play professional football". With that I say thank for all those crazy plays on Sunday that we use to do during recess at school. Thanks for making the game really fun to watch. Thanks for being just another ordinary guy with "crazy" football skills. I know there will never be another 17 years where football was that fun to watch. So long Mr. Favre, or should I just call you Brett.

It has been an interesting last couple of days. I am sorry for not keeping up, but it has been real crazy around here. Today I started my first day of school. I feel like an "old" guy, but after looking at the bios on some of my classmates, it would appear I am not the only one. Which is a bit nice. Today Becky and I are suffering some flu like symptoms which makes it hard to get through the day. Last Monday my brother Gabe and his wife Ana had their second baby, Madeline Grace Young. It is just a bit weird to me that in 9 weeks or so we are going to have our own baby. They say it's the best thing that can happen to you. I am still somewhere between a bit nervous to super excited to is this really going to happen. Yes I know it is, so it will be awesome.

This weekend my team and I are going to bowl at the state tournament. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just picked up a new ball which I will post some pictures for later. Then to round out this week on Sunday my Dad, Mike, Gabe, and I are going to see Billy Joel at the Bradley Center. I can't wait for the fun and for this flu thing to go away.

Well it was one week ago that things got real dicey in Young land. Boy what a difference a week makes. The Chargers are still in the playoff as well as the Packers. Who says Brett Favre is washed up. I was laid off, Becky was put on some kind of bed rest till the baby is born. So it has been real stressful. We know that in all things(key word: all) God works toward the good. Sometimes the good he is referring to is not how we see it because we like to see the full picture at all times. But I assure he is working in our lives his good. So on Monday I decided to go back to school. I was accepted. On Tuesday Becky was put on leave till Melodie comes. Wednesday I applied for unemployment, Thursday I got my job at Oscar's( it's like Culver's, but less expensive) the same position as when I left with all the perks. Even though I told them I wasn't sure how long I would be around for. We registered at baby's rus. Lets just say this whole having kids thing is starting to settle in. It makes me a bit edgy because I am not sure how this is going to go. I now it will be awesome, having kids is a great blessing, but sometimes I get a little nervous. So today everything is starting to swing toward that good part. Yea!!!!!!!!!!!

Well today was just one of those days. It started like a normal day. Wake up early to catch up on work missed the day before. Started with a venti carmel machiato from Starbucks. Then off to work. The stuff left to do was not bad from missing the day before because we had to go to the hospital to make sure mom and baby were OK. So I got caught up and decided to get my requested days off for the aforementioned trip to Michigan and the first two days of the NCAA basketball tournament. Well that was about it for the good news. I walked in to my bosses office and gave him my request to which he looked at, frowned, and said sit down and close the door. Well from the looks of his face something bad was going to happen. The plant was either shutting down or I was getting my pink slip. The later was the correct answer. While it would take a long while to explain this disaster, I am glad to say I feel OK with what went down. I am not really OK being laid off, or let go, or whatever seems to be the best so as to not be offended. I know God has a plan and it will work out. Which is definitely not how I usually take news like this. I should be stressed out, but I am at peace. So any prayers would be great. It has been a day. I just can't wait for what tomorrow will hold.

There is a restaurant in Holland called Til Midnight. Now while my family was in town for the wedding last February, My Uncle Dale went out to this restaurant. Now little did I now the amount of research that went into his trip. It appears he went online to find a great restaurant to eat at on that Friday night. He learned that Til Midnight was four stars. So he got there and had the best time of his life. Also he scored Becky and I free dinner there on our first honeymoon. So Becky and I are coming back for that dinner. I learned my Uncle wants to come. He went as far as to say if he could get a job of equal pay he would move. To Michigan. Just like that. This seems crazy. So now I find out he has saved all his personal time to come with us that weekend just to go to this restaurant. I have been to great restaurants, but this place must be out of this world for someone to just pack up and move on the spot. Should make for an entertaining weekend.

While driving today as well as the past several days I have noticed that many people on the road don't care about the rest of us. They have places to be yesterday, and show zero regard for the rest of us. They ride your tailgate no matter which lane your in and expect you to vanish so they can keep cruising. Today was a day where a medical transporter was that guy. He was on me in the slow lane, and then about five minutes later he goes zooming passed. Well I thought nothing of it till we got to about two blocks from the hospital (22 minute trip). Who did we come upon, but the same van. Looks like speeding doesn't make you get there any faster.

Well what a year we had in 2007. Lots of memorable moments for the Young's. We got married on the 10th of February. I had a couple of surgeries. We got pregnant, just to name a few. Becky got a new job. We got news my brother and sister-in-law were pregnant again. I would be writing forever if i tried to include it all. I wish all of you a great and prosperous New Year. I know it is going to be another memorable year once again.

Well it has been awhile, so I thought I would hit you guys with an update. On my Monday league we took first in the first half of the season. So the worst we will be is playing in a roll off vs the second half winner. On Wednesday we have position night this week. Team Youngins sits two points behind the first place team. We hope to overtake them. There a team of bowlers that are quite average at best, but like to rattle there gums a bit. We will keep you up to date on that. Also, I joined the ABT-Milwaukee(Amateur bowlers tour). My first event was rough to say the least. I' will be sure to keep things updated as the weeks go on.

Why do people wear pants without belts. I mean it is obvious they could use a belt, or is the mere fact that the shoes are supporting the pants reason enough. Example 1. Man carrying groceries home with the kids. He has bags in one hand, the kids in the other, and half way across the street he realizes that he needs to pull his pants up. Wouldn't the belt have helped. It has me just baffled that people by pants five times the size, and wow they fall down to their ankles.

Tonight I almost reached that mark all great bowlers strive for. The 300. You just never know when it will hit. My first game of 226 did little to tell the tale of how the next game would go. I struck in the first. Second, third, you get the drift. I had strikes in the first nine frames. The first shot in the I got the cross-over strike. 10 in a row. The first time ever. I was wobbling and shaking by now. My next ball came off the hand good, hit the pocket, and bamm, The 7 pin would not fall. I missed the spare for a 288 game. Then I fizzled with a 207. 721, not bad for a south paw.

Well for those of you who just woke up from a deep sleep, Becky and I are having a baby girl. That is going to be awesome. Know everything I remember doing to my parents comes full circe. OK, it is still going to be an awesome experience, don't get me wrong, but i know my parents are going to say "how does it feel to be a parent" So about 5 months to go. I can't wait.

Well Becky rolled a 148 game and a 378 series. Yea!!!!!!!! See what happens when you get spares and strikes. Good job ,babe. We are still in first, but our lead is only 5 points over second. We have struggled of late. On Monday my team is also in first by 1/2 a point. My average went from 193 to 195 as I bowled a 620 series. The goal is to keep improving and not making stupid mental errors. Well see how the week goes.

I have been selected to take part in the vigorous process to becoming a police officer. I applied way back in March, and yesterday I received a letter saying that they would like me to take the written test on November 3. It is a 5 hour test. I am excited and slightly nervous at the same time. I will be spending allot of time at the gym in the next couple of weeks. I got a packet of materials that tells you what you need to know and can expect. I am looking forward to this opportunity.

Granted they have been waiting since the turn of the century, but still one of the more impressive feats in sports in a long time. down four with seven games to play. Winning 21 or the last 22 games. The only thing Colorado seems to have going for it. Sorry Green Bay may come in and beat your practice squad next week on Monday night. I don't see John Elway coming through that door.

Well Team Youngins has improved itself to a 26-9 record after 5 weeks. This past Wednesday we took all seven points to improve our first place standing. Our fearless leader, Ryan, had a 681 series(199-256-226) to up his season average to 190. Hopefully we can keep it going again this week as we look to "strike " fear in Team Spice Girls this week.

I have been working out at gyms for many years now, off and on, but what happened last night was a bit embarrassing. Lately I have been able to bench 185. Now I know that in certain areas I struggle, and the bench is one of those things. So last night I put on the weight, settle in to lift. I am not sure what happened after that, if I forgot to focus, of if during the day I was lifting heavy things, but as soon as I picked up the bar it dropped to my chest and I couldn't move it up. Not one inch. Well I was in quite the pickle there. Good thing there was another guy around, or I am not sure what I would have done. He told me it happens to everyone at some point. So needless to say I went on doing other things. What did we learn....... Make sure you are focused on your task, and don't get to puffed up in yourself.

Michigan fan now here this. You reply to my post saying we should feel sorry for the Lions. Well I am sure the Lions have had at least 2 or maybe three playoff runs in the last 25 years. You have been to the World Series, and won twice. The Pistons have raked it up in the NBA. The Wings and the cups, and lets not forget about the title at the Big House. So before we pull out our hanky because one of our seventy billion good teams doesn't do anything since the days of #20, make sure to keep we wipe them on your side of the lake.

Well it was suppose to be our year. The city of Milwaukee had sent a team to the World Series every 25 years since 1957. Now that run is over. Thanks Dave! Why couldn't San Diego just roll over for us. OK, so there in the race to. They have better pitching, and coaching, and more experience. So it is not entirely Dave's fault, and I can still say we beat San Diego at Lambeau. Scoreboard! Still have a game in Chi-town tomorrow vs the El Tigris. Then Sunday we see the last game of the year at Miller Park. It's been fun to see Prince hit 50- plus bombs. Hopefully he gets M.V.P. and Braun gets rookie of the year. Well as we say in brew town, there is always next year. Hey but I had to wit to the second to last game to say it. Awesome!

Well bowling season has started for Becky and myself on Wednesdays. We are off to an impressive 12-2 start after to weeks. I am struggling to find my stroke, But the rest of the group has picked us up quite well. As you can see this is Becky's new ball designed specifically for her hands. It also is the first scented ball. It smells like limes. Who would have thought this advancement in bowling ball technology would exist? Crazy!

I have played now two weeks of football, and have no wins to show for it. That is two weeks and an 0-8 record. It is not like I can't score enough to win. I have had 5 games over 100 points ad have lost 5 by 10 or less. This has got to stop now!!!!!!

Well fantasy football kicked in last week. Let's just say I am 0-4, and Becky is 3-0. Maybe there is something to taking the bears defense in the third round. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Or not! Well hopefully things will change this weekend. I lost one of my games 141-131. I win that game every other time on any other day. I love this game.

I found out after my surgery on Friday. I had to get a couple

of clarifications, but it is definitely a baby on the way.

We are super excited as well as shocked a bit, but it is going to be awesome to start a

family with kids.

Well I had my birthday on the 15th of this month and that for me is the day I consider the last day of summer. Leaves are failing, the temperature is getting cooler by the day. We have had rain the last week straight. Anybody say, Seattle. Fantasy leagues, bowling leagues. I spent my first 5 days without Becky as she enjoyed some extended time with her family. I missed her a lot though. Today I had most of the excess waste in my mouth removed. Popsicles and bad tasting medicine for the next week or so. I am not liking this surgery deal. Hopefully we can nip that in the bud. So let the fall roll in.

Ok so today is the second coolest day of the year. It is International Left Handers Day! Also it is Ben Labarge's 59th birthday. Happy Birthday. Your wheelchair is coming in the mail. LOL. Anyway on this day in 1976 people realized I was left handed and needed a special day to commemorate, two days before my birthday. Very cool. Just Google Left Handers Day to find out a lot of cool stuff about this holiday. I don't really share a lot of the radical thought that are out there, but I think it's cool anyways.

On Monday I went to go play tennis with my Uncle Phil. Now he has played a lot of tennis in his day, and is 20 years older than I am, I felt I could be a bit of a factor. By no means was I going to win. That being said I thought I had a chance. Well as we played I learned, i had alot to learn. One key play is when he hit a backhand from the his far left side with smash-like force to the far corner on my left side as I am in my right corner. Zero chance to get that. Even speedy Gonzales had no chance on that. I lost the first set 6-1 and the second set 6-0. That is what I like to call a toushe whooping. I learned alot about my game. So that was cool. We have more matches scheduled, so we'll see how that goes.

It's my month long celebration of my birthday. So I am going to do something a bit unique. Give you the month of August day by day. I may miss a day or two, but will see how it goes. Well we had to save something somewhat monumental for post 50. As I have been riding I have set some goals for myself. remember back in may when I started it took me 30 minutes to get to work and about 24 to get home. I said if i could get those down to 25 minutes to and 20 home I would be thrilled. Well I have crushed those marks. yesterdays ride home was 18 minutes. That is cruising at a 3:40 clip per mile. The Italian Stallion has picked it up. Now If I could figure out how to time those darn stop lights, will really be cooking.

Well it's been awhile, but we went to a ballgame in Minnesota to see the Brewers stomp on the twins. Visiting the glad bag dome was an intersting experience. The staduim was buit for football. So lets play ball in there. It gets real loud in there to. Real hard to make out what there saying on the speakers. We won the game 5-2. Not real eventful. Watching Prince in batting practice was great. He launched some magestic shots way back in the second deck in the outfield. Here are some photos of our day.

Time is flying by. Well not at work per say, but out of work time flyies by. You are aware of this, but to me it is just fascinating, how I have dropped my second job, and still I am running, or biking, like a pack of wild chickens with there heads cut off. The end of June is here. We are scheduled for a "small" family gathering in Michigan territory. Johnson's, Labarge's, Young's oh my. So this weekend will go by quickly. I will try to stop and smell the tulips, if there are any left. Maybe also grab a picture or two for those of us who will not be there. July's right around the corner.

This past weekend we had a family golf outing/cookout to celebrate my Uncle Phil and my cousin Cassie's birthdays. We played on a par 3 course, pretty small one at that. So Saturday we took a practice run, Becky, Mike, Ben, my Dad, and myself. It was Becky's first time ever golfing. She did awesome for a first timer. Got right into the spirit of golfing by getting frustrated a lot. She finished with a 76. My dad bested us with a 63. Well on Sunday was the big gig. We had 20 people playing. All ages, male and female. Well the defending champ, my uncle's brother-in-law didn't show up. so it was wide open. Now there was no way I could win my dad was to tough. Also he was in the group behind us, so know way to know his score. So Ben, mike , Becky, and I played. I was lights out. Making shot after shot. Chipping with good precision. Ice in the veins when it came to putting. I finished with a 59, 4-over par. That was stellar. Come to find out my Dad six putted on one green and had a bad day as well. I was the winner. Ben came in second with a 62. Becky brought her total down to 74. She finished in the top 10 which for a second time out was great. Good job babe. So know I go into next year as the man to beat. No pressure!

OK, so I have been biking for a month now and boy I have learned a lot, beaten some odds, and continue to get better, at least on my way to and from work. Lately we have been doing some tweaking as you say. Know this bike is probably one of the first ever made, so it's not top of the line stuff, but it fits the job none-the-less. So we got new handlebar grips. We also got knew pedals that you can fit your shoes in. We purchased gloves, necessary after the first few days I realized it was hurting my hand right below the thumb area. of course we has helmets and thank goodness for that today(that story coming up). So last week we tried switching the pedals. The right side went like a hot knife through butter. Next we started work on the left pedal. Easy factor, not so much. It wouldn't budge. Not an inch. We torqued on it, pounded it, soaked it in all sorts of concoctions, We ran around it, through it on the ground, the pedal didn't come off. So we let it sit for a few days till I could get a socket to remove the pedal arm from the bike. So Friday we gave it a try again. We got the bike pedal off the frame and started to pound on it again. We used Brut force as our clamp, and pliers and a hammer. Now a few days ago I had a notion that the pedal had to be unscrewed differently than when we did the other one, but I blew that idea off and continued in my stubborn manner. Well after struggling, we decided to check the Internet to see what we were doing wrong. Well we found out that the left pedal unscrews opposite the right. So we have been tightening the pedal for hours. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well By this time I am a weeeeeeeeeeee bit frustrated. So I grab the pedal and start hammering it the other way. The pedal goes flying out of my hand flush off the ankle bone. OUCHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Well that was it. I was done. To which in about three minutes Becky gets it off and unscrews it. So She takes the bike and moves it. As she puts down the kickstand, she plants it into her big toe, right on the bone. She could barely deal with the pain. She is a tough cookie, but even that amount of pain is overbearing. So fortunately we are back up and running. Which brings me to this morning. I tried the new pedals for the first time. I found it very tough to get both feet in the strappy things. However I finally got it to work. I made it to me first stoplight at a very busy intersection. Low and behold I didn't have the ability to get me feet out and i lost my balance and fell off my bike pretty hard. In front of I'm sure dozens of laughing car drivers. I was super embarrassed. I twisted my wrist in the fall as well. So it has been a bit of a troublesome last couple of days. I may just want to walk to work now.

The oldest man in the world told the paper he was sorry for being "so old" in a report I read. That is a long time. What do you do when your that old? Do you get super discounts at Mcd's? Do you get free bus fare? do you need to live in a super old persons home? A lot of questions come in to play when you think of someone that old. The oldest know person was Jeanne Calment who new Vincent Vangooh. She lived to be 122yr, 164d. Sarah Knanss was the oldest US citizen at 119y, 97d. Christian Mortensen is the oldest confirmed male at 115 years old. The oldest living male and female know live in Japan. I wonder if eating sushi may have something to do with it? I think that if you live past one hundred you must be doing something right.

Well we got the road bike fixed up last Thursday and today was the first day I was able to ride to work. I was flying like a semi-warm knife through butter. 24 minutes on the clock. I may just shoot for 20 minutes. We started out at about 35 minutes and have cut it down big time. Twenty more years like this and I might pretend I'm riding in a big race. HEHEHEHE.

So about seven of us from our Church go down to Bloomington, IL, to help get some support for our missions in Senegal. This was about a 3 1/2 hour trek. On the way you know there will be at least one stop. It's expected with females, and people who just put down a thermos full of coffee. Well we stop in this "interesting" little town called Tonica. I'm not sure they celebrate Hanukkah.
So you know there is trouble when you go about three miles off the road to find the nearest gas station. Problem two you know it's bad when it looks somewhat deserted. Yea, I'm getting that creepy movie feel two. Well I am sure you can guess how there restrooms looked. I may have taken the outhouse option. Lets just say when the call of duty comes in, I can handle most anything. This was sad shape. No need for details. Let our mind take you whereever. So we make it out unscathed. Now the females mentioned how bad those were. All the rest of the way. Well on the way back were cruising, I am napping as best I can in the back of a jeep with 5 people. When I feel the car rumbling over a gravel section of road. WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We stopped again in Tonica, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Smith family in Kansas who lost there daughter this past weekend. It what appears to be a ha nous act of manslaughter, she was found dead yesterday. It is times like these where I say why, why? But this is not mine to question or to search for the answer. it just reminds me that the family and Friends in your life, are important. They need to be reminded of that. We just don't have a guaranteed life time on this earth.
we may never see tomorrow. We will have the memories and the love to carry us on. there is a phrase which goes " That which will not kill us , will only make us stronger". It appears the Smith's will grow and come out OK, but it's hard to see right now. So call your friends, family and just tell them you love them. You care, and if they need lend them a hand. "The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord". (from Job).

I am sorry vivid readers and others from across the globe who randomly tune in to read my thoughts for the day. I have been super busy. I will say that riding to work is an interesting adventure in itself. Today while it took me 31 minutes to trek the 5.4 miles to work I was stopped at a busy intersection. Now I was stopped short of the light so as to let some cars turn right onto the busy intersection. Well this one car stayed being me about 25 feet. As soon as the light turned green for me to go and I started pedaling, he peels right in front of me and turns right. WHAT IS UP WITH THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!! You had more than a minute to turn while my light was red. It wasn't a no turn on red because the 5-6 cars ahead of you had already turned. I have noticed the lack of respect cars have for bikers. Let's grow up people. I understand we may be a slight inconvenience to your road ways, but last time I checked I have as much right on them as you do. so with that being said, I am trying to make this bike thing a workout thing, and improve my bile times. My goal is to make it in around 26-27 minutes. so will see.

So I am feeling much better now that the turbinates are trinated or the trinates turbinated, or well it got fixed. I am starting to breathe a bit better every day. So last week I noticed on a sign at a bar it was bike to work week. Now I figured Chris would have taken the opportunity to let us all know this, especially since it was bike month. So I learned about it from a bar sign in Milwaukee. Since gas has gone up to a biggillion dollars a gallon, I figured this was a good idea. So yesterday I went to work on my bike. About 72 blocks to work. From 116th street to 154th street it is all up hill. Not one of those gradual climbs, but a giant mountain. So I was able to trek up this gargantuan hill. I was pooped to say the least. Good news for the ride home. Well today I did it again. When I got to the hill of difficulty I knew I was in trouble. My butt hurt, My legs screamed of burnout. I still had 40 blocks of this to go. I remember the great Marni's speech. How she wanted to quit. Near tears. So I forged through. Wind blowing in my face. Somehow I did it. yeah. Day two in the books. Can't wait for day three.

Young's visit Holland.

For the first time the Young's visited the land of Tulips. I thought it was amazing to see tulips lining the streets everywhere you looked. I was able to play euchre for the first time in the LaBarge family tournament. I came in fourth. Now i have been in online boot camp for the last week trying to set a strategy, which for this time worked pretty well. That was fun. I got to bowl in Dave's youth group outing which was an overnighter. I got five games in before I called it a night. Two times I held the lead, but someone around three a.m., who was impelled by 18 mountain dews came in with a 230. The weekend had it's funny moments. My favorite is 1/2 percent milk. This milk is native to only Michigan, I guess. Never heard of it before. We are the dairy state you know. I think we should know about our dairy products. Don't worry. Soon to grocery stores everywhere. 1/3 milk, 1/100 milk and 2 3/4 milk. Look for it.

Bowling season roundup.

Well the season is over. I would like to report that we won the championship, but that is not the case. While it was a good season, I feel sorry for the guys because for them it was an opportunity that comes not very often. I bowl with three guys who average under 150. Over the course of the season it all adds up. We struggled down the stretch, and just didn't have it in the end. Championship night the lanes broke down and the night didn't go all to well, and it seems like an excuse, but it is so easy to look for those when things don't go well. Your focus is lost, but it takes stronger person to fight through it and get it back. We couldn't. On the flip side I finished with the high average of 197, high game of 280, and second in series at 721. One of the other guys ion the tam finished third in high game with a 264. Our team finished first in series with a 2534. So it was a successful season. This weekend I am off to state to see what I have left in the tank. Saturday is singles and doubles. Sunday we bowl team event. These guys I have bowled with in our league over the last couple years. Even though there not on our team, it is fun to bowl with better competition.

This is just a quick thought and prayer for the families and friends that lost loved ones in the shootings at Virginia Tech University. While alot still has not been answered, it all seems so senseless I guess. It just goes to show that you should live every moment to it's fullest. Nobody is guaranteed time here on earth.

Opening day part two.

Well as promised here our the opening day pictures. I forgot one key component that day, more batteries, but we still got some good ones. The game was a great time. it was warm sunny. Things we don"t equate with baseball in April. It was fabulous game as well. Ben Sheets pitched a complete game two hitter. At one point in the game he retired 22 batters in a row.

This is to be the first of several games this year with scheduled stops in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Minneapolis, and Chi' town.

You know how when people first baked things or made things, several of those " ideas" came by sheer accident. Well at Oscar's yesterday someone mixed our burgundy cherry with our lemon berry. No one is sure who did it or why, but they decide it was a good idea to run the custard like that and sell it under the alias of lemon cherry. Now I know you are probably watering at the muth right this moment, but don't be fooled by the name. It was like looking at someone who mixed the red and yellow play doe in kindergarten. It tasted real nasty. Real nasty. There are some things nobody should mix. This is definitely right up there.

So I am working last night at the custard stand. A lady pulls into the drive thru and precedes to place an order. As she pulls toward the window to pay her car dies. So I get summoned to go help push the car out of the driveway. Well this was a brand new Chrysler 3000. Sorry not up to speed on my car makes and models. I ask her to put the car into neutral. she was definitely unsure how that was going to work. So I helped her do that. I pushed her to a parking spot. To which she didn't say thanks or anything of that nature. If by now you haven't guessed the car problem , let me lay it out for you. She ran out of gas. That's right folks ran out of gas on a new car. She says to me, I had no idea it was that low. Now maybe being a guy, and a weeeee bit paranoid of running out of gas and being stranded, but what is one of the top two things you do when starting your car. I look at my gas gauge. Call me crazy. That's what I do. Now I am not trying to bash women at all. So please ladies don't come after me like it's a witch hunt. Don't you look at the gauges on the car. Maybe not all of them. Doesn't the gas gauge concern you at all. Well in just talking with this lady, who surprisingly wasn't blond, I understood how it could have happened. So she calls her husband to come get her. He was only 30 miles away. So he was not pleased as I am sure you could guess. she gets off the phone to tell me her husband was upset and that what she did was bad for the car. You think? No gas, no movement in car. Also you might get stranded in a place which is not so nice. The lesson we learned here tonight is always check your blinker fluid, windshield wiper brake pads, and lastly just make sure you have some gas, or go to the nearest gas station and fill up.

So I come into work today. All pumped from opening day( more later. Efforting the whole picture thing) and what should I walk into a puddle by my desk area. Now I have been working there awhile now. It does rain a lot. All of a sudden it appears there is a leak in the roof that drops through three floors through the grating down on my floor. Oh and the best part is it is right at my area. All day now it will be drip, drip, drip, drip, on my head. I thought work was torture enough. Now this. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

opening day part 1

well today is opening day at Miller Park. Another season of high optimism, followed by injuries and shotty play, combined with the fact we can't beat Pittsburgh(are you kidding me), followed up by another losing season, meaning massive depression by years end as we watch the Cardinals, Yankees and others battle for the title. OK so maybe this year will be different, right? I am not going to hold my breath. Besides nobody looks good in that shade of blue. I will be there today. So I do hope that the season goes well. I am excited to watch the game. October was a long time ago. So here is to the tailgating to all the brats I can put away. The game encounter a bit later with, some pictures hopefully.

Well we have come to the end of our bowling season. While our goal was to win both halves we were not able to accomplish that. With that being said we still have our spot in the final next Wednesday. So while our cousin, Chris, a.k.a, Thee Colorado Flyer, won a big bike race. I am on to trying to win my second bowling title. The first was when I was about 20. So it has been awhile. The team I was the least experienced. Now I am the main guy. So it will be fun as well as a wee bit stressful. I finished the year with a 197 average. My highest ever in a sanctioned league. So will see what the pins have in store. Also I am headed to state April 21-22 in Milwaukee this year. So it hopes to be an exciting month for bowling.

Well folks it is that time of year again. The stretch of April to October. This is where I have found I am able to maintain a high level of energy and lose weight. The last two years I have lost 35, 45 consecutively. I also started at about 260 each year as well. This year is different. I am at 226. It would seem to me that the task at hand is more difficult this year. Also I am being challenged by my wife, ex sports medicine/physical fitness guru/ registered nurse. She went to a consultation at the club we work out at. So she is primed and ready to go. She has set goals of 145 by may15th, and 135 by august 15th. That's my birthday by the way, so I will be expecting loads of gifts. OK. Just kidding about the gift part. So in her competitive spirit has started saying how she is going to beat me. Well this just won't due. However not willing to get a consultation myself, which comes with the membership, I still feel I can win. Hockey game.

So Becky and I went to a Milwaukee Admirals game on Sunday afternoon. They just happened to be playing the Grand Rapid Griffins. Now in all honesty I new the hockey team was from Michigan, but had no clue it was the minor league team of the Detroit Red wings. Well this started off some banter about who's team was better, our town has a real hockey team ,blah, blah, blah. Now since that little debacle last summer where the Brewers lost 2 0f three to the tigers in miller ballpark, the state of Wisconsin has taken the edge. Packers 2, Lions zero. The Admirals also had been schooling the griffins this year 5-0-0-1. I can't even keep up those hockey record stats. However from the looks of it we have taken back the Wisconsin/Michigan thing for the time being. Well see what happens when the Brewers head to Commerica this year. We had great seats up against the glass. Front row just to the left of the penalty box area. I like the seats, but for hockey being up a couple rows lets you see more of the action. The Admirals had this kid who looked 16. He was in the box next to us, and I thought I could probably take him. OK, so maybe not. I give hockey players alot of credit. They have a great skill level when it comes to skating, puck handling, shooting, avoiding checks, and the works. But we had loads of fun. Now it's on to the baseball travel season. Some interesting teams to check out this year.

Let me just say this post is not in reference to the weather we have been having this month. In a span of a week we have gone from really cold to somewhat warm to summer to late fall and back to winter. HELLO WISCONSIN!! I am referring to the greatest sporting event every year. I have my several dozen brackets filled out. Let me just say that women I don't get how you come away winning office pools in sports like this, but you do and it frustrates us guys because you don't use a real philosophy that would lead you to be successful. You don't look at records or styles of play. You look at mascots and team names. What's up with that? So another pool, more women kicking guys tales. Like I have said it is the best event of the year. I ave had the pleasure of going to some games and the energy level is great. Win or go home. So today at work I have made up for the fact I have no vacation to take off. So the TV has shown up with me. So I will be a wee bit distracted from 11- 5 this afternoon. Let the madness begin. YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know that I have those days, and really I think we all do, what I mean is you just feel like the day is going super slow. You have been up for an hour and it seems like it's been 60 minutes. You drive to work and think back how did I get here. I mean you know you made it OK, but your mind was so preoccupied that you don't "really" ever remember the exact course of events that took place and you made it to work or wherever your traveling to. Our you get online and your looking to connect with that guy from across the globe and you read something the sound like it came out a Ozzy song, right it just doesn't make sense. So he blogs about who knows what. Then you look for that attention grabber, and no pictures. Well that would cut down on the typing cause they say a picture is worth 1000 words, and he hasn't got any, so he writes 1000 words hoping you get the picture. You just want to scream at him, but you know he isn't on the computer when you are and so you don't. Also he doesn't have the techno at work for computer speakers anyway so that wouldn't help the situation. He goes on and on. You want to stop reading, but realize that it would be rude, and you have wasted ten minutes reading this. You don't stop because you say well it has got to pick up sooner or later. There has got to be some method to the madness, and then you feel like those movie that leave you hanging. MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That frosts my corn flakes. So there I was the other night ad you know how many trucks are on the freeway every single day. Well I am 31, and I don't do math this early, but that comes out to like 10,000,000 days or something. But I saw for the first time a student truck driver. Some driving company trains people to drive trucks. I never thought about it, but yea it makes sense I guess. Well sorry for making you read through this post. I just wanted to get a few things off my chest. I would go back and spell check, but I am afraid of what I would see. He is to more awesome posts. Maybe I'll throw a 1000 worder in every now and then. Hehehehe.

So last night I was reading the paper and it had an article on how long will you live. Based on some pretty interesting gathered data they feel like they can tell you how long you will live till. While not entirely accurate, as it doesn't take into account any national disasters or unforeseen circumstances, they take about 3-4 dozen questions about your lifestyle. Based on your answers they calculate how long you should live. Well they have me croaking in the year 2053. Then after they give you feedback on how you can add years to your life. I can add three of them if I get married or find a "life partner" First of all I am married as I answered in the first couple of questions. Second I will take my place in heaven before I try to add "three" years to my life with a "life partner". Not my cup of tea. Nevertheless it was a interesting little exercise. Hawaii

I know I haven't talked much about the trip to Hawaii. It has been rough at work. All excuses aside though, If you do anything in your life, make sure a trip to Hawaii is in that plan. I could not explain with words and pictures will not do the justice of the sites and sounds, and just awesome scenery that is Hawaii. leave the weather aside a bit, cause we know that is a consistent 75-80(non humid) degrees. We woke up in places surrounded by mountains only a few short miles away. I thought Colorado was awesome, and it is, but Hawaii is magnificent. I am grateful for having gone and look forward to the chance of returning. So if your looking for a referral on where to book your next vacation, say it with me. HAWAII!!!!!!!!!!

Well I have some blog time. Man my schedule has gotten full. I knew it was coming, but not like the unleashing of snow(somewhere around 2 feet of snow) I didn't think it would come so fast. Nonetheless hear it sits. Life. Married life. It seems a bit overwhelming, and I did enjoy Hawaii. The last two days I have been back to work. The guy who was working for me quit the day he took over and really walked off the job last Monday. So I came back to a nightmare. Well I have had to work my buns off to get back to just having some filing and paperwork left to do. It is nice though to have a wonderful wife to come home to and share the good, bad, and ugly the day has left to offer. So I have some catching up to do still, so until that time. Don't forget to stop and smell the roses.

well boys, girls, and gifted animals we have come to a time that I have been waiting for what seems like forever and a day. My last day off work and the weekend I get married. It has been quite the past year. Looking ahead looks very exciting as well. I wish safe travels for all those who are traveling from afar. I would like to say that Becky and I appreciate you coming and taking time out of your not so busy schedules ( especially you, Chris) and joining us this weekend. OK. So there are just 6 days till the wedding. It seems like so much has been accomplished, yet so much still has to happen and I wish I was speedy Gonzales or the road runner right now, because it seems like an impossible task which lies ahead. I know I can't wait for the weekend, all family and friends which I have not seen in a bit(some of you since September, won't mention any names, Marni and the Colorado flyer). That being said it is go time. My week is packed. Hey if anybody wants to hang out for a few hours in the morning on Saturday, it seems I may have a bit of time to chat. That is my only free moment this intire week. CRAZY!!!!!!!!! Tell me about it. This is probably what a player felt like this past week getting ready for the Superbowl. Yeah Colts. It is that time of year. Lets just say that It seems like a month ago when I saw a game last. Anyway we can shorten up this fortnight of wasted time on guys analyzing everything down to the shoelaces the kickers will be wearing. Anyone one say over analysis. Maybe. That just speaks to the way to much time on our hands and nothing to talk about. I think I could summarize this game better. The team that plays 60 minutes or more of football, makes fewer mistakes, capitalizes on the other team mistake, turns the ball over less and scores more will win the game. It's kind of like watching a meteorologist(can I buy a vowel Pat) talk sports. He has a bit of an idea of what could happen,and if he is wrong oh well there is always next week, but really that's why they play the games. If i wanted to see this debate stuff, I would turn on court TV. So anyway it will be fun, as long as the bears get smacked.

So yesterday I was in my soon to be new apartment. Now Becky and her roommate have been living there all winter so far. Every time I come over they talk about how it's always cold. Now I just assumed this was one of those girl type things where they always get cold. So I stayed oblivious to the fact it could be anything else. I mean what else could it really be. So yesterday I was over and Becky reiterated the fact that it was cold and the heat didn't work. Well so I went to work. First of all the thermostat if I can call it that is located on the vent panel on the floor. It reads warmer or colder. It looks like something out of pre-historic times. Well also the guy that installed there wireless must have uses one of those do-it-yourself books, because I think he screwed it up. So I am looking at this piece of work, and low and behold I am instantly freezing. A sensation I equate with cold air blasting in from somewhere. So I go to the window which is right above the vent and notice both sides of the window are still open. YEA, TO THE OUTSIDE AIR!!!!!!! This wasn't just a crack. this was a good two inches on each side of the window. Well needless to say I closed them and you could feel a temperature adjustment. I still think there is a problem with the heat, but the wind from outside isn't blowing in there anymore. So If you are experiencing any coldness in your home, just check a window. LOL.

In just 10 short days.... I am getting married. YEAH!!!!!!!!!! I cannot wait to be married to Becky. To finally start a family of our own. It is gonna be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Lets us also not forget that I gain a whole heck of a lot of cousins, aunts, uncles, brother and sisters -in-law, parents-in laws as well. I am stoked!!!!!

second half week 7

well ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, and gifted animals, we have come to another week in bowling. Last week the tribe took 5 out of 7 points again. I thought things were turning around for me when I started off with a 245. However it turned real ugly, which has been the case of late, with a 166 and 173. I don't want to bore you with bowling talk, but my mechanics are way off and need to be rectified especially before I go to state. Tonight poses a somewhat easier challenge in team vacancy(we bowl ourselves). Hopefully we can swing this drought I have been in lately. My average rests a shade over 200. So our goal is to get that 300, 800. WE just got to fix the fixable. Hears to another 7 point week and increasing our 4 point lead to remain in first.

Lets just say that this is a redundant point. THANK GOODNESS FOR COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I know we are all big fans, and really how can you afford not to be. Lets just say that with THEE WEDDING(12 days) coming up, working out like a madman (OK so not as much as Chris the Colorado flyer), helping Joanna move out of my soon to be apartment (YEAAAAAA!!). Today I am whipped. Folks it's only Monday. This is going to be a tough week. The weather is very wisconsinesque for this time of year(did someone say global freezer burn). I have alot to accomplish before I go on my two week vacation(YEAAAAAAA. Hot, sunny, warm, Awesome, Hawaii). So today, not like any other day I will start off with a good cup of Folgers. Because we now the best part of wakin up is Folgers in your cup.

The past several years I have heard the argument that we are going through a Global warming period. BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. First of all I will let you know when that becomes a problem. It will be when we go with more than two months of 70+ degree weather. Our "winter season", as they sometimes refer to it in the state of frostsconsin will be cut down from 9 months out of the year to maybe 6. That is pushing it, I know. we won't receive snow in may. All key factors to know that "global warming" is taking place. When I can go outside in march and I don't feel I have warped into the "windy city", then we can discuss this topic again. However until said time, don't waste my time and energy on some made up farce like global warming. Every time we talk about it, the weather just seams to go crazy in this country. I mean look at Marni. She probably hasn't seen the outside in months, all with her 90 feet of snow they got in three days, followed by a huge 10 foot layer of ice. It snowed in LA and phoenix for like the first time ever. Go away you people that predict weather with your global warming talk.
Just because you lack skill in weather forecasting doesn't mean you should try to start predicting other things. Like I said, I could use a little global warming today, -6 degrees(wind chill factor. I'll leave that discussion for another day) . Well today I am going by the name jack frost. Warm up some coco babe, I'm a comin home...... lol.

Well I was at the gym yesterday. This guy and his buddy were talking in the lockerroom. The one guy says to the other well I have had so much to eat today. He goes on to tell his friend his entire daily regement of eating for that day. Frankly it was alot of food. So he tell his friend it's ok because he is going back on his workout routine next week. I thought this strange, but listened on anyway. Not like I had a choice. Then it happened. That thing you here from people at movies, ballgames, zoos, athletic clubs. Now my brother Ben and I have always wanted to right a book on phrases people say that are so off the wall they make you stop and say, WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY!!!!!! Well here is another addition to the book. He says to his friend "I am bloated like a cive(sp). I need someone to explain to me how that works. Shift and then i need to see a bloated cive, just to get the visual down.

Well as some of you know I work in the shipping area of my company, Superproducts, and I work both indoors and outdoors. It seems though during the winter, I spend more time outside grabbing parts. While I know that we have had little snow in comparison to other parts of the country, we have had our share. We today after the six inches we got yesterday, I had to go unbury some tubes and hoses outside. After about 10 minustes of pulling stuff out from the mounds of snow, I found I was buried by the powder. My clothes are still soaked from the snow. Hey wha't even better is I still have to go out there and the wind is picking up. I WILL TAKE HOT WEATHER OVER SNOW AND COLD ANY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Becky and I had an interesting Friday night. We went to a restaurant called Pedro's. She insisted it was an Italian joint, because they have one in Holland. Well i knew it to be otherwise, but nonetheless let her have it anyway. So when we got to the Mexican(Italian) place we walk up to the hostess. She asks how many of us to which Becky responds three. Well there was only two of us so we had to inform her it was only two. I thought that would be the most bizarre part of the night, but I would soon learn otherwise. The waiter, who was of Mexican desent, took our order. Well Becky started ordering in Spanish to which he took as Becky being Mexican. So he asked her if she was Mexican. Becky responds immediately "YES" . Then realizing she was not tried to spin the conversation from that, however not helping her cause and confusing the waiter.
Well finally she rested on the fact she had Mexican flavor. So for the next 15 minutes we start laughing historically. Well our food comes then. The supervisor puts it down in front of us. He mentions to me I had chosen a great meal. This is when Becky finds it appropriate to mention the pepper on top of the food looked like something she pulled out of someones ear today. I looked at the supervisors face, and he was stunned by the comment, as was I, considering I was real hungry. He just left and said he couldn't top that. So that was our fun, bizarre, date night we had on Friday. Guess I just got to get use to the "FLAVOR" of it all.

Well the first half of our bowling season has come to an end. Our team, Dejavu, has taken the top spot. What this means is we are in the playoff with whomever wins the second half of the season. So far I am leading the league in average at 201. It has been a struggle as of late, as my consistancy has been off alot. So here is to the second half. Right now we have a one point lead over second place. We'll see how things go from here.

So I get on this plane friday. they spend the first 30 minutes telling us to buckle in for they take-off. The attendants are quite adiment about this. I am fine with this. I then think well this must happen on hundreds of flights a day. Also cool with me. However then they took it too far. They get on the speaker and show us how to use the seatbelt and "properly adjust" them. Come on..... Quit insulting my intellegence, and just toss me my bag of stale peanuts please.
